Essential Phone: The smartphone in check

In2018, the Essential Phone was presented to the public for the first time. Android co-founder Andy Rubin was chosen as the designer, and curiosity was high for that very reason. The Essential Phone ran Android. In the meantime, however, the smartphone is no longer supported by Android.

These are the features of the Essential Phone

The appearance of the Essential Phone from "Android was announced on May 30, 2017, and subsequently released on August 17 of the same year. Since then, the smartphone has been sold frequently. However, the project went for only one year. In 2018, it was already announced that the production of the device will not continue. Then, on February 12, 2020, it was published that there will be no more updates for the device either. The Essential Phone offered several advantages.

• The first highlight was the housing: it is made of titanium and is therefore not only visually wonderful, but also very robust.
• The display measures 5.7 inches and is extremely sharp thanks to Quad HD with 2,560 x 1,312 pixels.
• The screen-to-display ratio is 85 percent - this value is very high.
• A Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is used as the CPU. This is not the fastest processor on the market, but it is more than sufficient for all applications. That is also due to the 4 GB of working memory.
• The Essential Phone does not have a 3.5 mm jack for headphones, but a USB-C port.
• The memory cannot be expanded via SD card.
