MHW Iceborne: Tips for fighting the Stygian Zinogre

In March 2020, the Stygian Zinogre finally appeared for the PC version of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Our guide gives tips and info on fighting the variant of the Zinogre.

The Stygian Zinogre is introduced in the Tundra biome in the Guiding Lands. There you fight the monster for the first time.

MHW Iceborne: How to defeat the Stygian Zinogre

If you are facing the Stygian Zinogre for the first time in Iceborne, this info will help:

• The Stygian Zinogre deals dragon damage.
• He is sensitive to thunder. Against fire and water, he is at least excellent with two stars. However, his elemental weakness only comes into play when he is charged. The damage you do with elemental weapons therefore varies during the fight.
• For constant damage, therefore, a weapon without element is recommended as an alternative.
• The movement patterns of the Stygian Zinogre are very similar to those of the normal Zinogre.
• The special attacks are different, however, because the Stygian Zinogre shoots red balls that explode after a short time with dragon damage. However, these are easily visible and can be avoided most of the time.

Overall, the Stygian Zinogre is thus not a noticeably hard hunk - many players do not find it more difficult than the normal Zinogre. You can craft new items from the materials, both weapons and armor reappear at the blacksmith after you defeat the Stygian Zinogre for the first time.
