Which hard drive for PS4?

If your PS4's hard drive is full and you need more storage, you can remove the internal hard drive and insert a larger one. Both HDD and SSHD or SSD hard drives fit in a PS4.

PS4: What criteria does a hard drive need to meet?

Sony installs HDD hard drives in the PS4 at the factory. Depending on the version of your PS4, the internal hard drives are 500 gigabytes or 1 terabyte. A new HDD must have a SATA connector, be 2.5 inches in size, a maximum of 9.5 mm in height, and its rotational speed should be at least 5,400 RPM (revolutions per minute). The maximum storage capacity is 2 terabytes. SSD or SSHD hard drives improve the load times of your PS4. The SSD hard drives are more expensive than SSHD hard drives. To make sure that the new hard drive is compatible with your PS4, make sure that the hard drive meets the requirements described in the text.

How to replace the internal hard drive

  1. Make a software update and backup of your PS4.
  2. Shut down your PS4 completely.
  3. Unplug the device.
  7. Stecken Sie die neue Festplatte in die Halterung.
  8. Danach müssen Sie nur noch die Festplattenhalterung und Festplatte wieder festschrauben.
