VLC Media Player: rotate and save video

If a video you have created is not properly aligned, you can rotate it with VLC Media Player and save it in the new alignment. However, you can't do this directly on your smartphone. Instead, you need to download the program and the video to your PC.

Rotate and save videos: What VLC Player can do

If you want to shoot and save a video with VLC Player, you need to make some settings first.

1. Open the video you want in VLC Player and click "Tools" at the top of the menu bar, then click "Settings".
2. In the new window, activate the "All" item under "Save Settings" at the bottom left.
3. Above you will find a list of settings menus. Click on "Video" and then on the arrow next to "Filter". From the list, select the item "Transformation".
4. Here you can now specify how many degrees the video should be rotated under "Recoding type".
5. Now switch to "Stream Output" on the left side and click on the arrow next to "Sout Stream". Select the "Transcode" entry.
6. Activate the "Video Transform Filter" item via the check box.
7. Abschließend sichern Sie Ihre Änderungen über die Schaltfläche „Speichern“.
8. Klicken Sie nun zurück im Player oben in der Leiste auf „Medien“ und danach auf „Konvertieren/Speichern“.
9. Auf der rechten Seite klicken Sie nun auf die Schaltfläche „+ Hinzufügen“ und wählen Sie Ihr Video aus. Bestätigen Sie die Auswahl über „Konvertieren/Speichern“.
10. Im neuen Fenster geben Sie über „Durchsuchen“ einen Speicherort für das Video an, anschließend starten Sie den Vorgang, in dem Sie auf „Start“ klicken.
