Modern messengers like WhatsApp are not only suitable for chatting, but also for file transfer. Our guide explains how you can send documents in WhatsApp.

With WhatsApp, you can send documents up to a certain size.

Chats are the primary purpose of WhatsApp, but document sending is a handy additional feature.

WhatsApp: Sending documents made easy

Proceed as follows:
  1. In the chat window, tap the file attachment icon (a paper clip) at the bottom.
  2. Select "Document".
  3. Search for the corresponding document and tap on it.
  4. Send the document in the usual way, like any other message.
WhatsApp allows you to send all important and known file formats, such as PDF, JPG, PNG or ZIP. So there are hardly any limits and you do not have to switch to other channels to transmit documents during the chat. The only thing to note is the maximum size: on iOS it's 128 MB, on Android 100 MB and in the desktop app the limit is 64 MB.
