WordPress: Edit Gutenberg with HTML - all info

The switch to Gutenberg affects almost all areas of article creation. This includes the HTML editor, which is no longer available in this form. Nevertheless, HTML editing is still possible in Gutenberg.

All new - but also better? Gutenberg at least allows HTML editing.

Gutenberg is supposed to lead WordPress into a new era, but so far does not satisfy all users.

WordPress: Gutenberg with HTML switching mode

The essential feature of Gutenberg is the work with blocks. This also applies to editing in HTML:

1. Select the desired block.
2. Click the button with the three dots at the top right of the options.
3. Select "Edit as HTML".
4. The display now switches to HTML and you can make the desired editing.
5. Then switch back to "Edit visually".

With Gutenberg, you can thus only edit block by block in HTML; the display of the entire article as HTML is no longer possible. However, one of Gutenberg's goals is to require less and less manual HTML intervention. Das ist zumindest die Theorie; in der Praxis greifen viele Nutzer weiterhin auf den HTML-Editor zurück.
