So waterproof is the iPhone X really

Apple advertises, among other things, that the iPhone X is waterproof. But this term can have many different meanings when it comes to technology, depending on the depth of immersion, for example. So what is too much water for the iPhone?

Is the iPhone X waterproof or water-resistant?

The iPhone X is waterproof. Strictly speaking, it is classified according to the IP67 protection class. Among other things, this guarantees you that no water can penetrate the iPhone X when it is immersed in water for a short time. As a user, you should know the following about it:
  • Apple guarantees that the iPhone X is waterproof for 30 minutes as long as the smartphone is not submerged deeper than one meter.
  • However, this protection against water penetration wears off.
  • Therefore, you should not take the iPhone X swimming under any circumstances. However, you do not have to worry if it ever falls into the water.
  • Under no circumstances should you intentionally place the iPhone X in chlorinated water or salt water. The chemical composition decomposes the protection much faster, so that water damage can occur.

What to do: iPhone X got wet

If the iPhone got a splash with the garden hose or some shower water, you do not have to worry. The water protection is sufficient, so they can just leave it in a dry place for a moment to see if everything is really okay. Dab it with paper towels.
