Connecting a fax machine - the procedure explained

You can easily send business letters or other documents via a fax machine. For this, you only need the respective fax number of the recipient. However, before you can use the device, you must first connect and set it up. There are only a few differences in the connections.

How to connect your fax machine

Before you can start using your fax machine, you must first connect it. Therefore, find out from your provider which fax machines work in combination with your connection. Usually you will need to buy a separate device to connect to your router or phone line.

1. There are usually several phone ports on the router. If possible, connect your fax machine to one of these slots. Usually, these are marked "FON".
2. In addition to connecting to the router or phone jack in your home, you must also connect the fax machine to a power outlet. The required power plug is included with the purchase.
3. There is usually also a TAE adapter included in the delivery. This is used if your router does not have a telephone connection to which you could connect your device.
4. Most fax machines according to the G3 standard are connected to the analog telephone network. Hierfür benötigen Sie keine speziellen Kabel.
