Apple: Disable two-factor authentication
Two-factor authentication is useful for preventing unauthorized access to your Apple account. However, if you would rather do without this additional security, you have the option to disable two-factor authentication directly in your Apple account. We explain the necessary procedure here.
How Apple's two-factor authentication works
Two-factor authentication was developed by Apple to protect your Apple ID from abuse. When two-factor authentication is enabled, you can only log in to your Apple account over the Internet or on a trusted device. If you want to access your Apple account from a new device, two-factor authentication requires not only your password, but also a six-digit confirmation code that is displayed on the trusted device.Apple: Take these steps to disable two-factor authentication
If using two-factor authentication is too cumbersome for you, you can disable the feature in your Apple account.- To do this, go to the website "appleid.apple.com" and log in with your user data.
- Then navigate to "Security" > "Edit" and select the option "Disable two-factor authentication".
- If you have created your Apple ID under iOS 10.3 or macOS 10.12.4 or later, you may not see the disable option.
- If this is the case for you, either contact Apple with a request to turn off two-factor authentication or create a new iCloud ID on the Apple website.
