RimWorld: Building Bridges? You should know

Whether river or lake, bodies of water in RimWorld slow down your settlers. Deep water is even impassable. The solution in this case is a bridge. Our guide explains how to build it.

Conquering water: Bridges are available early on and are much needed in some situations.

The further you progress in RimWorld, the more territory you claim. Sooner or later, you may well need to overcome a body of water with the help of a bridge.

RimWorld: How to build bridges

As expected, you can find bridges in the construction menu:
  1. Open the "Structures" section.
  2. Select "Bridge" or press "N".
  3. Pull the bridge over a body of water.
The following rules apply:
  • Bridges can only be built from wood.
  • Diagonal construction is not possible, just as with walls thus. You can only lay bridges vertically or horizontally.
  • You can even build light structures on bridges if there is enough surface area. However, with too much weight, the bridge can collapse and in the process, the building will also be destroyed.
By the way, bridges also make sense in passable water, because the movement speed of your settlers is higher there. Since bridges require only wood, the construction is possible at the very beginning, if necessary. Um eine Brücke zu entfernen, gibt es im Baumenü ebenfalls die passende Option.
