The official corona warning app: all info on the release
After weeks of intensive work, the German government in cooperation with the Robert Koch Institute has released the official corona warning app. We have all the info on the topic.
The app's development costs were an estimated 20 million euros. Measured against the scope of COVID-19, however, this amount is rather small if the app serves its purpose as intended. How the Corona Warning App Works
On the Corona Warning App, here is the basic info:- The app records the movement data of all users. If a user falls ill with COVID-19 and reports it, it can be determined via app which other users they have encountered before. These are then informed by app and can, depending on the suspected case, take their own measures.
- Infection histories should be transparent and can be traced quickly by the app. In this way, possible infection chains are noticed early and ideally contained.
- On privacy: According to official information, the movement data is stored decentrally, personal data is not collected at all. The deletion of the data takes place after two weeks, if the user had no risk contact.
- On the download: Since there are now quite a few apps in the app stores with the name Corona, it is important to look carefully. The correct name is "Corona warning app" in exactly this form. For safety, here is the link to the Android version and here to the app for iOS.
