Android: Private mode - how to use the function

If you want to hide certain contents of your smartphone from strangers' eyes, the private mode will help you. We'll show you how to use the feature and what options it gives you.

Android's private mode is suitable for hiding content.

Some content and activities are not meant for outsiders. There's a reason why features like anonymous browsing in Chrome are so popular. In Android, you have the opportunity to hide entire content.

Android: Private mode enabled in a few steps

On your Android, enable private mode as follows:
  1. Open the "Settings".
  2. In the "Personalization" section, tap "Private Mode".
  3. Follow the introductory explanations and confirm the disclaimer with "Next".
  4. Decide on an unlock method. You can choose between "Pattern", "PIN" and "Password".
  5. You can also swipe down from the top and expand the quick start silence. Then you will find "Private Mode" and activate it simply by tapping the icon.
The private mode is now active. You use it as follows:
  1. For example, if you want to move a photo from the gallery to private mode, open the photo and tap the menu icon with the three dots in the top right corner.
  2. Tap then on "Move to Private".
The photo is now no longer visible in the normal gallery. In the same way, in addition to pictures, you can also hide videos, music, sound files from the voice recorder and your own files.To end the private mode again, open the item with the same name in the settings again and deactivate the mode.
