Rust: How to use the wind turbine & what it costs

Renewable energy is particularly handy in Rust, as this way you don't have to acquire resources on your own. We explain the wind turbine and name the ingredients for its construction.

Changing winds: the wind turbine gives you a lot of electricity.

Unlike solar panels, wind turbines are not dependent on the time of day. Nevertheless, their resource is not constant either - the wind is quite changeable, after all.

This is the wind turbine in Rust

If you would like to work with wind power in Rust, here is the most important info:
  • The wind turbine generates up to 150 units of electricity. This makes it the most powerful power generator in the game.
  • For that, it's not cheap either: if you've learned the blueprint, it costs 1,500x wood, 30x high-grade metal, 3x gears and 10x sheet metal to build. After all, the level 2 workbench is enough for the construction.
  • On positioning: as mentioned in the item description, the wind turbine works stronger the higher it is built.
  • It is therefore worthwhile to build a little in height. There are hardly any limits to the variants; for example, you can construct a small tower to be able to put the wind turbine as high as possible.
Independent on the position, the wind turbine will never constantly generate the same amount of electricity. Not least because of this, the interaction with a battery storage is advisable. In strong wind phases, you can collect excess energy to use it during lulls.
