Rust: Staging Branch - what is it? We explain it

When you install Rust on Steam, you will see another entry called Rust Staging Branch. This installation is done automatically and without prompting. We therefore explain what it is about.

Test at your own risk: the staging branch includes all new updates, but with bug risk.

Rust is far advanced, but according to the developers still far from final fine-tuning. This is where the Staging Branch comes into play.

Rust Staging Branch: Direct updates with bug risk

Since Rust is constantly supplied with updates, there is in addition to the main game the so-called Staging Branch:
  • In this players can try out and experience new updates directly.
  • The risk of errors such as bugs is of course increased there. In return, players do not have to wait for new features.
  • In the main game, it behaves the other way around: There, updates are only played when stability is guaranteed. This does not always work, but mostly.
So Rust Staging Branch is a mode with an experimental character. This is aimed more at experienced players who do not mind bugs, but want to put the progress of the survival hit through its paces.
