Windows: How to display the clipboard!

The clipboard is used to temporarily store and retrieve various selected files or text. If you want to display the clipboard under Windows, you usually need special tools for this.

Now how do you get to the clipboard?

Generally, the answer would be: not at all. The clipboard always saves only the last save request and is usually not displayed, only used. Note that the following steps are only possible up to Windows Vista. Newer systems no longer have this feature.
  1. In order to actually display the clipboard under Windows, you need the program "Run".
  2. Open this by pressing the keys [Windows] + [R] simultaneously.
  3. In the new text field, now enter "clipbrd", which incidentally stands for the English word "clipboard", so clipboard and then confirm with [Enter].

This is how Windows 10 users proceed

On newer systems, you need third-party software to display the clipboard. The Ditto tool is recommended for this purpose. The software is available free of charge and allows you to display the clipboard in its own interface. If you are looking for a lost Word document in the clipboard, you can click directly in Word under "Start" on the far left on the small arrow near the heading "Clipboard". There automatically saved documents are displayed and can be retrieved if your program or PC has crashed.
