YouTube: Use automatic subtitles - here's how

Videos in foreign languages are not always easy to understand, often not at all. Sometimes this is true even for German-language videos. For this case, there are now automatic subtitles.

YouTube's automatic subtitles can even translate foreign languages.

Many videos already have built-in subtitles. How video owners accomplish this is explained here. With automatic subtitles it is different, because they are generated by YouTube.

YouTube: Enable and customize automatic subtitles

Automatic subtitles can be easily enabled:

• In the video window, click or tap on the icon that resembles a chat text window. This is right next to the settings gear.

Thereupon, the audio content will be automatically displayed as subtitles in the video. By opening the settings, you can make adjustments at "Subtitles": So you can display the subtitles in many different languages.Both the original audio and translations, it always happens that some words are not correctly reproduced. This is because the automatic function is not yet perfect, especially with poor sound quality or strong dialect it can be problematic.
