Warning Day 2020: All info about the special test run

Under #WarningDay2020, the population is made aware of a special "event" in September 2020. If you've heard of it too, we'll explain what it's all about.

For an emergency - of whatever kind - the population and the government should be equally well prepared. That's why Warning Day 2020 was planned as an exercise.

Warning Day 2020: A System Check on a Grand Scale

In Germany, there are numerous warning systems for dangers of all kinds, such as natural disasters and terrorism. Some of these systems are quite modern (via app, for example), while others have been around for decades. And this is why September 10, 2020, will be so important:

• On this day, all systems are to be tested simultaneously. It is thus an announced test alarm.
• This is scheduled for 11 o'clock in the morning and should last about 20 minutes.
• The test affects all major systems that are part of the MoWaS (Modular Warning System) of the federal government. Apps such as NINA are required as well as broadcast warning systems and sirens and loudspeaker trucks in all regions.

The goal of the test is obvious: The functionality of all systems should be checked. The action will take place for the first time in 2020, but will be repeated annually in the future, always on the second Thursday in September. The official page for it can be found here.
