iPhone X: Delete cookies - how it works

The Safari browser places so-called cookies on your iPhone X. The small data packets are generated by websites to recognize your device when you visit it again. In the settings, you have the option to delete cookies or even block them completely.

Deleting cookies - this is how it works on iPhone X

If you want to delete the cookies stored on your iPhone X, you have to proceed as follows:
  1. Call the "Settings" app.
  2. Tap on the "Safari" item in the overview.
  3. There tap on the option "Clear history and website data" to remove stored cookies.
If you want to keep the history, follow these steps:
  1. Call up the "Safari" menu item in the "Settings" app.
  2. Tap on the "Advanced" item there.
  3. Select the option "Website data" and tap on "Remove all website data".
If neither history nor cookies are stored, the options for deletion are grayed out.

Block cookies

You also have the option in the settings to block cookies completely. To do this, open the Settings app and then navigate to the "Safari" item. Activate the option "Block all cookies" there. However, activating this setting can lead to certain websites no longer working. Likewise, you may have to log in again to websites where you were previously logged in, since the cookie ban means that the site is no longer able to store the data.
