MHW Iceborne: Master Tigrex

The name Tigrex occupies an almost legendary status in Monster Hunter history. That makes it all the more gratifying that the monster is included in Iceborne. But the battle is not necessarily a reason to rejoice.

Tough test: Tigrex is fast, aggressive and rich in variety.

Anyone who sights the blue-and-yellow striped flying wyvern knows that things are about to get serious. Without the right know-how, an extremely painful lesson threatens.

MHW Iceborne: Tigrex as a tricky hurdle

The gliding ability through the air as well as the spikes do not make the Tigrex fight easy. Nevertheless, it is by no means hopeless:

• Tigrex is weak against thunder weapons. With two stars follows the dragon element.
• Against water, ice and fire, however, Tigrex is immune.
• The status weaknesses are all given with two stars.
• Speed is the absolutely outstanding feature of the monster. Good reactions are mandatory in order not to be promoted to the camp in the blink of an eye.
• Despite the wings, Tigrex remains on the ground most of the time, but can use walls to use special attacks like Tobi-Kadachi. After such a jump attack Tigrex pauses briefly on the spot; this is an important time window for attacks.
• Tigrex likes to attack storm-like, covering larger distances very quickly. To prevent this, you should usually stay as close to the monster as possible.
• A specialty against close hunters, however, is the circular swing with the tail. The attempt to cut off the tail early is thus rewarded.
• Caution is also required later in the fight: As soon as Tigrex enters rage mode, a harrowing roar is heard, which even causes damage at short range.

Tigrex requires a mixture of reactions, timing and the correct anticipation of attack opportunities. Especially hunters with slow weapons will learn to appreciate the new grappling hook in this fight, because the speed of Tigrex then no longer plays a role.
