iPod battery replacement - these are your options

The battery of the various iPod models is known for its long runtime. However, it can still happen that it discharges too quickly or is defective for some other reason. If this is the case, it is necessary to replace the battery.

How to replace the battery of your iPod

The battery replacement on an iPod Touch is very difficult and should not be done by yourself. You will need a soldering iron and other special tools to remove the battery. You should therefore contact a professional.
  1. On the iPod Classic and iPod Nano, the front and back are glued together and must first be loosened with a thin spatula. Also, the further procedure requires a lot of tip feeling and should only be done by someone who knows how to do it.
  2. If you still want to do the replacement yourself, there are many detailed instructions on the Internet. Note, however, that this will void your warranty and risk further damage to the device.

Let Apple replace the iPod battery

On Apple's service page, you can see all the prices that are due for repairs to your iPod.
  1. In some cases, the replacement is covered by the warranty or AppleCare+. You should therefore contact Apple Support, as in this case the repair of your device is completely free.
  2. The cost of a battery replacement outside of warranty varies depending on which iPod you have.
  3. While the battery replacement for the iPod shuffle and iPod nano costs only about 56 and 80 euros, respectively, the iPod touch costs 100 euros for a new battery. The most expensive battery replacement is the iPod Classic, where around 170 euros are due.
