In addition to personal skill, hunting is mainly a question of equipment:

• For hunting you need weapons. The first important tool you can make is the wooden spear. For this one, you need only one log per spear. However, each spear is limited to three uses.
• You can stab with the spear or throw it. Throwing is effective to hunt at a distance, however, because of this you should carry several spears.
• Alternatively, you can also use tools such as the stone axe in close combat to kill animals. However, this is not quite as effective and is therefore only suitable as an emergency solution.
• With sufficient survival level, you can later resort to bow and arrow or crossbow and bolts. These ranged weapons are your best hunting tools.
• With both thrown spears and shot arrows and bolts, you can also pick them up again, whether from the ground or from the body of the hunted animal.
• In addition, you must always carry a knife to be able to skin animals. This will namely give you furs and skins.

Independent on the weapon, it is advisable to always approach the target creeping. The shorter distance means greater accuracy and more damage; both are important to hunt efficiently.
