Android 9: How to completely reset the device

If your Android 9 device hangs up or you want to sell it, you can reset it to factory settings. The latest operating system version offers a suitable option for this, to delete all content and settings. You can usually find this in the device's settings.

How to reset an Android 9 device

When you reset your Android 9 smartphone, all files on the device are deleted. This is especially useful if you want to pass on or sell the device. However, a factory reset may also help if you have problems with your smartphone. Before doing so, however, you should create a backup to secure your files.

1. Open the "Settings" app on your smartphone.
2. Then go to the "System" entry and then to "Advanced". For some Android models, the item "System" is also called "General Administration".
3. Here you will now find the item "Reset options".
4. Tap on this and then select "Erase all data (factory settings)".
5. Confirm the process again via "Reset phone" or reset tablet. Wahlweise können Sie hier auch lediglich die Netzwerkeinstellungen zurücksetzen.
6. Für gewöhnlich werden Sie jetzt nach Ihrer PIN beziehungsweise dem verwendeten Sperrmuster gefragt.
7. Tippen Sie danach nochmals auf „Alles löschen“.
8. Das Gerät wird nun auf Werkseinstellung zurückgesetzt und anschließend neu gestartet.
