OpenOffice: Create style sheets

OpenOffice already comes with several style sheets pre-installed for formatting your documents. If you don't like them, you also have the option to create your own templates. How to proceed correctly and apply your style sheets to the text, you can read in this article.

To make it easier for yourself to format a created text document, it is useful to use a style sheet. OpenOffice already includes a variety of templates by default, from which you can choose in the menu bar under "Format templates" or by pressing the F11 key. If you can't find a suitable template among the templates already available in OpenOffice, you can create an individual template in just a few steps.
  1. To do this, first go to "Styles" in the program and select one of the five types of templates.
  2. Then right-click on the selected template and select "New" from the context menu that opens.
  3. A new window will then open where you can specify a name and a range for the new template.
  4. You can now make further settings for your style sheet by clicking on the individual tabs and properties such as font or text alignment, specify.

How to apply a style sheet in OpenOffice

Independent of whether you use an existing style sheet or have created it yourself, the procedure to use it for text formatting is the same. To do this, first select the text you want to format before going to "Format Templates" and double-clicking on the template in the listing on the left.
