Microsoft Authenticator - how to use the app

With Microsoft Authenticator you can log in to your Microsoft account without your password. For this you use a fingerprint, facial recognition or a previously set PIN. If you still want to log in with your password, this is also possible at any time.

How to use Microsoft Authenticator

For example, if you don't want to enter your password every time on your smartphone, you can use the Microsoft Authenticator app. With the app, it is possible to log into the Microsoft account using a fingerprint, facial recognition or a matching PIN. Alternatively, you can also set a two-step authentication.

1. First, download the app to your device.
2. Sign in on the Office website with your account details.
3. Click "Set up now" > "Mobile App". Check the option "Receive notifications for reviews" and then go to "Set up".
4. After that, click on "Settings" > "Office 365". Now go to "Security and Privacy" > "Additional security verification" > "Update my phone numbers used for account security."
5. Now click on "Which is your preferred option?" > "Notify me through the app." Check "Microsoft Authenticator app" and finally "Configure".
6. Now a page with a QR code will appear on your computer. On your smartphone, open the app and tap the plus icon. Select the type of account you want to add.
7. Now scan the QR code on your screen. Your account will now be added to the app.
8. Follow the instructions to confirm the login on both devices.
