Windows 10: Automatic login

If you use your computer frequently and don't want to log in with a password every time, you can use Windows 10's automatic login. This method is especially useful if you are sure that no one else has access to your device.

How to set automatic logon in Windows 10

If you don't always want to log on to your computer with a password, you can bypass this feature in Windows 10 by setting automatic logon.
  1. Press the "Windows" key and "R" key combination at the same time to open the Run dialog.
  2. Now type "netplwiz" in the text box and confirm the entry by pressing the "Ok" button.
  3. You are in the window that displays all "User Accounts".
  4. Now click with the left mouse button on the entry where you want to set the automatic login.
  5. In this area, you must disable the item "Users must enter user name and password" and confirm this with "OK".
  6. Now enter the password of your account to complete the process.
  7. Confirm again via "Ok" to save the settings. The user will now be logged in automatically when you start your computer.
  8. With multiple users, it may happen that you first come to the menu for selecting user accounts. Möchten Sie dennoch direkt angemeldet werden, ist eine Änderung in der Registry nötig.
