Excel: Not empty - here's how to check cells
With the Excel spreadsheet program, you can format and analyze the contents of your cells any way you want. If you want to know if a cell is empty, this is possible with one of the so-called ACTUAL functions. You will then receive "TRUE" or "FALSE" as the output.
This is how you check if a cell is not empty
Excel offers the so-called ACTUAL functions. With these you have the possibility to check the contents of your tables for certain conditions. An example of this is the ACTUAL NUMBER function, which you use to test whether a cell contains a number. If you want to know whether a cell, column or row is empty, you can use the ISTLEER function.- First select a cell in which the result of the function should be.
- Now write "=ISTLEER()" in the function line. The function also requires at least one argument that describes the range to be checked.
- Therefore, enter the cell names in the parentheses. If you want to check the contents of cell A1, write "=ISTLEER(A1)".
- Then you get "TRUE" as output if the cell is empty. However, if there is something in the cell, "FALSE" is output.
- You can also include this function in other functions. For example, you can combine it with the IF function. So ist es möglich, einen bestimmten Wert ausgeben zu lassen, wenn die Zelle leer ist. Diese Ausgabe erfolgt dann anstelle von „WAHR“ oder „FALSCH“.
