Star Citizen: What are orgs and how do they work? All info
Star Citizen is an MMO, so you will inevitably meet other players, either as opponents or as allies. For a structured togetherness, there are orgs, which are to play a major role for the game.
Orgs refer to organizations. The principle is not new, as it has existed in online gaming for decades, for example clans in Counter-Strike or guilds in World of Warcraft.Star Citizen: Orgs planned as a dynamic element
In Star Citizen, orgs are consequently the union of player communities. In principle, there is a high degree of freedom:- Org founders can determine what goals the group wants to pursue and what values it represents. A clear philosophy is identity-promoting and helps to find suitable players.
- So an Org can be specialized on combat, or on transport and trade - or on several facets at the same time.
- Within the Org, tasks, areas of responsibility and ranks can be assigned. This creates structure, and as the size grows, it becomes even more important.
- As can be seen here, there are different archetypes of orgs, for example Corporations, whose focus is on financial interests, or Private Military Companies (PMC), where the focus is on combat.
- The goal is that through the orgs one day own stories in the game, for example, in battles for resources or dominance in certain sectors.
- The same applies to the clash of philosophies: So it is possible that a pirate Org with a law-abiding Org clash.
- Inversely, different Orgs can also work together, such as a Corporation that has its transport ships protected by a PMC.
- For players, the Org membership is practical, since new contacts arise and many tasks can be done more effectively.
