Printers stopped: How to make it operational again

When the printer is stopped, no more print jobs are executed. The fact that the printer suddenly finds itself in this status can be due to a hardware problem as well as on the software side.

If your printer shows the status "stopped", this can be due to various problems that you can quickly and easily fix. For example, just a paper jam or an empty cartridge could cause the status on some printer models. Also, when the printer goes to sleep mode, your PC could show the "paused" status. Also, an outdated driver could be the reason why the printer is not executing print jobs. You can always find the latest drivers for your device on the official site of your printer's manufacturer.

Use Windows to make a suspended printer work again

In many cases, you can simply undo the "suspended" printer status yourself in Windows.
  1. Open the Control Panel. With Windows 10, open it by typing "Control Panel" into Windows Search and clicking the appropriate entry.... In previous versions of Windows 10, click the icon and select Control Panel.
  2. Then open "Devices and Printers."
  3. Right-click your printer among the devices displayed. There should be a check mark next to "Stopped." Indem Sie daraufklicken, heben Sie den Status auf.
Sollte dies auch nicht helfen, versuchen Sie, Ihren Drucker herunterzufahren und trennen Sie ihn für einige Sekunden vom Stromnetz.
