Restarting Amazon Kindle: How it works

Amazon's Kindle is an e-book reader. This one usually runs reliably. However, as with any device, problems can occur with the Kindle over time. Usually, a restart will help. You can do this via the settings or a key combination.

If you own an Amazon Kindle, you can buy your e-books directly from Amazon's website. With a Prime membership, you even have the opportunity to read numerous titles for free. The Kindle is usually a reliable device, but problems can still occur in some circumstances. In most cases, a reboot can help fix it.

1. Hold down the power button on the Kindle until the screen turns off or you see an on/off dialog box on the display.
2. Then continue to hold it down for about 40 seconds, after which the device will reboot.
