Restarting your PC: How easy reinstallation works

If you have problems with your computer or want to freshly set it up, it works with the help of an installation DVD or a USB boot stick. Note that all files and programs will be deleted when you reboot your PC.

Settings: Reboot PC

If you already have Windows installed and want to reboot your PC, you can do so via the settings.
  1. Click on the Windows icon at the bottom left and then on the gear icon.
  2. Now navigate to "Update & Security" and select "Restore" on the left.
  3. Now click "Let's go" under "Reset this PC".
  4. Select whether your own files should also be deleted or not and follow the instructions.

Reinstall Windows with ISO

To set up a new PC, you need either an installation DVD or a USB stick that is set up accordingly for installing Windows.
  • With the tool "Windows ISO Downloader" you can download the image you want directly without much searching.
  • Of course, you can also manually search out and download the appropriate Windows ISO on the Microsoft website.
  • In order to install Windows, you need a valid product key. You can use your current key for this or purchase a new one.
  • To create a bootable USB stick with the ISO file, you will need the Microsoft Media Creation Tool.

Restarting Windows 10 - final steps

The DVD or stick will automatically run the installation wizard when you restart your PC. In it, you can specify on which hard drive Windows should be installed. In the process, all old data is deleted and the PC is like new.
