Thunderbird: Set up spam filter - this is how fast it works
With Mozilla Thunderbird you can receive and answer emails. But it often happens that you are spammed with advertisements after logging into a store or other website. Thunderbird can help you distinguish advertisements from real e-mails. To do this, you need to set up the spam filter.
How to set up the Thunderbird spam filter
The spam filter usually already has a default setting. But so that this really blocks everything he should block, you should complete a few extra settings.- Open Thunderbird and the settings by clicking in the program top right on the three-dash icon.
- Now go to "Security" and then further to "Junk". Here you will find the learning settings for the spam filter. Check the "Enable junk log for self-learning filter" option.
- Now you can train the filter by marking the spam messages as junk. In the initial phase, you should do this regularly so that the filter can learn which mails are to be classified as spam and which are not.
- You can also mark multiple emails at once and make them junk by simply clicking on the flame icon at the bottom of the inbox.
- Also make sure that no benign emails are classified as junk. To do this, go to the Junk folder and look through the emails it contains.
