iPhone: How to set the spam filter

Pesky ads are an unpleasant thing. However, by setting the spam filter properly on your iPhone, you can ensure that you receive few, if any, unwanted bulk emails.

Can you set spam filters on iPhone individually?

Setting up your email account on your iPhone, you either use the email address of iCloud or that of an external provider like Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo. Which emails you receive and which are filtered depend on this provider. On the iPhone, you can therefore not make separate settings for spam filters.

iCloud email: Info about filters

If you use an email address with iCloud on your iPhone, you cannot make separate settings for the spam filters. Instead, the provider tries to block as much spam as possible from the start. You can additionally protect yourself:
  • Images in promotional emails are not only annoying, but may even contain malware. You protect yourself by turning off that this content is loaded at all.
  • To do this, navigate to "Settings > General" on the iCloud Mail website. Here you disable the function "Load images in HTML emails".
  • Furthermore, Apple itself recommends to basically delete all emails that look like spam.
