Boot from USB: How to prepare your Surface Pro 6
Booting your Surface Pro 6 from a USB device is necessary when you want to make changes to firmware settings or Windows boot settings. For booting from a USB drive to work, you must first configure your Surface Pro 6 accordingly by making changes in the UEFI.- First shut down your Surface Pro 6 and then turn it back on while holding down the Volume Up key.
- Hold down the Volume Up key until the Surface logo is no longer displayed and the Surface UEFI appears instead.
- Click "Startup Configuration" in the UEFI and drag the "USB Storage" entry to the first position in the list to change the startup order.
- Exit the UEFI by clicking "Exit" and select "Reboot Now".
