How to move from Android to iPhone with WhatsApp

To avoid losing the contents of your WhatsApp chats when you switch phones, it's important to transfer them to the new device. While this works easily from a cloud backup when switching between devices with the same operating system, a detour is necessary when moving from Android to an iPhone. To back up the WhatsApp data on the Android smartphone, please first create a local backup. To do this, go to "Settings" > "Chats" > "Chat Backup" in the WhatsApp menu and select the "Backup" option.

How to transfer WhatsApp backup between Android and iPhone

Once you have created the backup, please take your new iPhone and enable developer options on it first and then enable USB debugging.

1. After that, proceed by installing iTunes on iPhone and download the Windows program "Android WhatsApp to iPhone Transfer" to your old smartphone.
2. Now you need two USB cables to connect your old Android smartphone and iPhone to your computer at the same time.
3. The previously installed "Android WhatsApp to iPhone Transfer" program will then launch automatically and you can select the WhatsApp backup under "File" and transfer it by tapping "Android to iPhone".
4. Finally download WhatsApp to iPhone and restore WhatsApp from the backup during setup.
