What is Clever Shuttle? We explain the carpooling service

Carpooling is a practical thing, but often difficult to organize. Clever Shuttle wants to change that, and we present the so-called ride-pooling service in more detail.

Shared rides are cheap rides: Clever Shuttle makes ecological and economic sense.

The streets of major cities are regularly clogged, and in many cars there is only one person. Clever Shuttle offers the opportunity to spontaneously become part of a carpool.

What is Clever Shuttle and how does it work?

The process is quite simple:

1. After registering, you can book a ride via app. In doing so, you enter a location. If you are not alone, you can also specify multiple seats.
2. A driver from Clever Shuttle will be assigned to you. Per app, you can see where the car is currently located.
3. After the ride, you can either pay digitally in the app or with cash.

Currently, Clever Shuttle is only active in two German cities, Düsseldorf and Leipzig. This is a step backwards, as the service was previously available in many other cities, including the metropolises of Hamburg, Frankfurt, Berlin and Munich.This caused all the more of a stir, as Deutsche Bahn had only invested in the company in 2018. Die Zukunft von Clever Shuttle scheint damit recht ungewiss zu sein; aktuell fährt der Dienst jedoch noch in den beiden genannten Städten.
