DuckDuckGo: Map services at a glance - the options

When you search for addresses or places with DuckDuckGo, you can see the results in map view - so just like Google and Co. However, with DuckDuckGo you can set which map service is used.

In DuckDuckGo, four map services are integrated out of the box.

Local search takes up a good portion of all search engine activity. With DuckDuckGo, you get to decide which map service to use.

DuckDuckGo: Four map services to choose from

To select the map service, follow these steps:
  1. Open the "Settings" in DuckDuckGo and select "Other Settings".
  2. There you will see further down the entry "Map System".
Alternatively, you can also make the switch directly in the map view, as there is a corresponding field. In the selection field you can choose between these map services:
  • Bing Maps
  • Google Maps
  • HERE Maps (originally from Nokia)
  • OpenStreetMap (free project based on Wiki principle)
By default, Bing Maps is set, but you can change that at any time if necessary. The security features of DuckDuckGo also apply when using the map services. Sie brauchen also nicht zu befürchten, dass Ihre Daten bei Nutzung eines bestimmten Diensts erfasst und verarbeitet werden, da dies bei DuckDuckGo-Suchen verhindert wird.
