Satisfactory: Unlock map - how to get the world map

When you start the game, you don't see where you are on the world map in Satisfactory. This can be changed, however, as you can unlock and use an in-game map. Our guide explains how.

The world of Satisfactory is large and demands hours of exploration. An in-game map comes in handy.

Satisfactory: How to get the map in the game

You unlock the map via M.A.M. research.

• This happens in the quartz tree - you consequently need the special raw material.
• The map only appears at an advanced point in the research tree. Before that, you need a good amount of quartz and must produce the Crystal Oscillator from it.
• The map entry is called "Frequency Mapping" and requires 10x Crystal Oscillator and 10x Beacons (beacons).
• You do not have to produce the map afterwards; you simply call it up by pressing "Z".
• The map shows you quite different information, such as beacons, vehicles and radar towers. Resources and crash sites, on the other hand, are not visible.

You will only see areas on the map that you have already explored, however. With further research in the quartz tree you unlock technologies to see other areas on the map. For expansion, the map is thus a very powerful tool. Alternatively, until then, you can use one of the online maps (for example, on this page) to orient yourself.
