Configuring the FritzBox - how to set it up correctly

The FritzBox is a mixture of a router and a modem. The box supports many providers and can save you quite a bit of time due to its good configuration capabilities. The configuration must be done to match your provider. You also need to set up the WLAN and update the firmware.

How to configure the FritzBox?

If you want to configure the FritzBox, first perform a firmware update.

1. Open the FritzBox user interface.
2. Enter your password. This can be found on the back of the router.
3. Now go to the category "System" and there on "Update". Here you select "Search for new Fritz!OS". If a new firmware is found, update to this.
4. If the FritzBox is updated, you can set up the WLAN. To do this, go to the menu item "WLAN".
5. Under "Security" you can set the WPA mode and the network key here. It is best to select a network key as long as possible with special characters.
6. Now go to the sub-item "Internet" and then to "Access data". Hier können Sie neben dem Internetanbieter Ihren Provider auswählen.
7. Je nachdem, bei welchem Provider Sie sind, müssen Sie nun unterschiedliche Angaben, wie Kundenummer, Kennwort und Anschlusskennung, machen. Drücken Sie auf „Übernehmen“, damit die Änderungen übernommen werden.
