What the term cursor means

Cursor refers to the mouse indicator that is displayed on the screen when using a PC or laptop. The word cursor comes from Latin and is translated into German as "input pointer". The cursor always shows you the current editing position in a program. Depending on the program you are using, the cursor appears in different forms. While the cursor is displayed as a blinking vertical line in Word, it appears as an arrow on the desktop or in the browser.

These changes to the cursor are possible

If you are using a Windows computer, it offers you various options for customizing the shape and color of the cursor. To make changes to the cursor, it is first necessary to open the settings.
  1. To get to the settings, open the Start menu and click "Settings" or press the key combination of "Windows key" + "i".
  2. In the settings, then navigate to the menu item "Ease of use" and select "Cursor & Pointer".
  3. Here you have the option to change the width of the cursor, the pointer color and the pointer size. The changes are thereby directly effective and require no additional confirmation.
  4. If you also want to adjust the shape of the cursor, this is possible under "Settings" > "Devices" > "Mouse" > "More mouse options" by selecting a scheme in the "Pointer" tab and confirm with "OK".
