Facebook: Delete profile picture - how to remove it

On most social media platforms, the profile picture is the main deciding factor. If you want to use a new picture, you have the option to still leave the original profile picture on the platform. However, if you want to delete the old photo from the profile completely, that is also possible.

How to delete profile picture on Facebook

On Facebook, you set a profile picture so that other users can recognize you faster. If you want to update the photo or change it for any other reason, you have the option to delete your profile picture completely. Afterwards, it is possible to set a new photo or not use any picture at all in your profile.

1. Go to the Facebook website with a browser of your choice.
2. Log in with your account data to access your profile.
3. Now open your profile picture album.
4. Select among the photos the one you would like to delete. Click on it.
5. Under the picture you now have the option to click on the item "Options".
6. In the next menu, select the item "Delete this photo".
7. Confirm the selection with "Delete". The profile picture has now been removed from your profile.
8. Repeat the process for each photo you want to delete from the album. Befindet sich kein Foto mehr im Album, wird das Standard-Bild angezeigt.
