Android: Adaptive battery - how the feature works

A battery that learns from how you interact with your phone and adapts accordingly: That's the adaptive battery introduced with Android 9. Our guide explains the feature and shows where to find it.

The adaptive battery adapts to your behavior and thus saves power.

Large, high-resolution displays like that of the Samsung Galaxy S10 require a lot of energy. A built-in means of saving power comes in handy.

Android: Adaptive battery ensures longer runtime

You can find the adaptive battery setting the following way:
  1. Open the "Settings" and there the "Device Maintenance".
  2. Select "Battery" at the bottom left.
  3. Tap on the three dots at the top right and open the "Settings".
  4. There you will see the item "Adaptive Battery" and can deactivate it if desired.
However, there is usually no reason for this. Because the adaptive battery is quite useful: Over time, the system registers which apps you use and how often, and limits the passive battery consumption for rarely used apps. This is especially handy on long days without charging options, as it can save the crucial few percent.
