Android 11: Forgot the unlock pattern

You can use the PIN or the unlock pattern to protect your Android smartphone or tablet from unwanted access. If you yourself have forgotten the unlock pattern or code, there are several ways you can restore access.

Android 11: How to proceed if you have forgotten the unlock pattern

If you have forgotten the unlock pattern of your smartphone or tablet, you can restore access using "Find My Device". However, this only works if you have connected the smartphone to your Google account in advance.
  1. Use your browser to access the "Find My Device" website and log in with your Google account.
  2. Once you have logged in, you will see the devices connected to the Google account on the left and a map to the right, where you can see the location of the device.
  3. Select the device you want to unlock from the list.
  4. Once you have selected the device, you can click on the "Lock" option. You will then have the option to set a new access code. The old code will be overwritten during this process.
Another way to bypass the lock is the Smart Lock feature. If the feature is active, the device is automatically unlocked as soon as you are in the home WLAN network or in a trusted location. Additionally, you can also set up voice recognition via Smart Lock. But again, the function has to be set up in advance. The last option is to perform a factory reset of your Android device. Note that this will delete all data on the device.
