Apple ID: Forgot security question - what you can do

In addition to the password, you also need to set a security question when creating your Apple ID. If you have forgotten the security question and the corresponding answer, there is an option to reset both.

How to reset your Apple ID security question

If you have forgotten your security question or the corresponding answer, you can reset both.
  1. In your browser, go to the URL www.iforgot.apple.com.
  2. Enter your Apple ID and click "Continue."
  3. Select the "Reset Security Question" option and click "Continue."
  4. Enter your Apple ID password.
  5. You will now need to confirm your identity. The options you have to identify yourself depend on the details stored in the account and some other factors. If the system does not offer you a way to verify your identity, you will not be able to reset the security questions.
  6. After confirming your identity, you can now set three new security questions and answers.
  7. Click "Continue" to complete the process.
If you enter your security question incorrectly too many times, the reset function will be temporarily blocked.

Additionally protect your account

Instead of security questions, Apple recommends setting up two-factor authentication. You can activate the additional protection via the account settings of your Apple ID. For example, if the protection is turned on, you will have to enter an additional confirmation code when logging in. The code is sent to a device or phone number you specify.
