iCloud: Forgot your security code - what you can do

The iCloud security code allows you to confirm your identity and access your iCloud keychain. With an update, users of the keychain were prompted to create a new security code. If you have forgotten this, you cannot always reset it.

What you can do if you have forgotten your iCloud security code

When you create an iCloud keychain, you are also asked to enter a security code. With this, it is possible to confirm your identity when you switch to another device. Older iOS devices also asked you to renew the code at the beginning of the year. If you are using a newer device, you can skip this step, as the identification is via two-factor authentication.

1. If you have forgotten your security code, do not enter it incorrectly several times under any circumstances, as this could disable and delete your keychain.
2. To create a new security code, go to the Settings app on your iPhone.
3. Select "iCloud" and then "Keychain". Next, tap on "Advanced." Here, tap on "Change security code." After entering your Apple ID and password, you can set a new code.
4. Be aware that this option is no longer available, especially on newer iOS and OSX systems. Für gewöhnlich wurde der Sicherheitscode bereits zuvor durch die Zwei-Faktor-Authentifizierung ersetzt.
