Firefox Bookmarks Folder: Finding the Location of Your Bookmarks

You want to use your bookmarks from Firefox on a new laptop or you found out that you don't need many bookmarks anymore? Then you can make the necessary changes in the location of your bookmarks.

Within no time you can locate your bookmark locations and thus make changes quickly and easily.

Where to find your bookmark locations

The folder where all your bookmarks are stored is called "Profiles" in Firefox. The easiest way to find it is to follow these steps:
  1. Press the key combination of "Windows" and "R" key. Now the "Run" command will open up.
  2. In the box, type the command: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ and confirm the operation by pressing the "OK" button.
  3. Now you need to open the folder described as "default". This is the location for all your data that is stored regarding your Firefox profile. Here you will find your bookmarks as well as your passwords and other files.
  4. Under the "Bookmarks" folder you will find all your bookmarks. These are stored as JSON files.
  5. Now you can directly delete bookmarks or access the relevant pages. In addition, you can save the bookmarks on an external storage medium and export them to a new device.

Get an overview

To ensure that you always have an overview, you should check your bookmarks at regular intervals and remove outdated bookmarks if necessary. This way you can quickly and easily find what you are looking for and at the same time reduce the amount of memory your bookmarks take up.
