How to set up a printer on Ubuntu

Even with the Ubuntu operating system, you can easily set up a printer and integrate it into your work environment. To ensure that you can perform the installation safely and quickly, the following steps should be followed exactly.

The prerequisite for setting up your printer under Ubuntu is that you have already connected the printer to the power supply and switched it on. Then connect it to your computer by cable or by WLAN.

Once you have correctly connected your new printer to your home PC, you can directly start with the installation:
  1. Open the activities overview. To do this, click on the "Activities" button or move the mouse pointer to the top left. Then open the overview.
  2. Select the menu item "Printer" there.
  3. Click on "Unlock" at the top right and enter your password.
  4. Now you can include your printer by the option "Add".
  5. Select your printer. Depending on your needs, you can use the detected drivers or download the drivers from the manufacturer's website.
  6. You now still have the option to assign a name to the your printer, so you can identify it better. Confirm the settings made.
  7. Finally, click "Add".
If your printer is not displayed in the setup wizard, check the connection. The printer must be turned on and also not in standby. If it is not detected, download the drivers from the manufacturer, run the file and then set up the printer as described above.
