iPad: External monitor - how to connect it
If the screen of your iPad is too small for you, you have the option to connect an external monitor. Since the latest iPads only have a USB-C port, an additional adapter is usually needed to make this possible. Optionally, there are also monitors that have a corresponding port.
How to connect an external monitor to your iPad
The latest iPad Pro offers enough power to also serve as a laptop replacement. To make this possible, it is a good idea to connect an additional monitor to the device so that you can work on it more clearly. There are different options to choose from.- If the external monitor has a USB-C port and supports the HDR10 standard, then you can connect it to your iPad without an adapter. However, depending on what ports your iPad or monitor has, you may need a USB-C display AV adapter or USB-C VGA multiport adapter or Lightning digital AV adapter or Lightning to VGA adapter.
- To switch the view on the monitor, you need to connect it to your iPad via USB-C cable. After that, first open the menu on the iPad.
- Then go to "Display and Brightness". Here, select the monitor in the list and tap "Allow changing display mode".
- Now the view will be switched automatically and you can use the iPad and the screen together.
- If you don't want to sync the monitor with the iPad's image, but use it as a second screen, then it is necessary to use a corresponding app.
- Alternatively, it is also possible to use an HDMI adapter, with which you can also connect other monitors to the iPad.
