MHW Iceborne: Offensive defense explained - all info about the skill

Offensive defense was first introduced with Iceborne and brings some classes the possibility to significantly increase their damage. Our guide introduces the skill and explains how it works.

Don't hide: Offensive defense provides a real incentive to attack constantly.

Offensive defense can be used by all classes with shield. These are Sword and Shield, Lance, Rifle Lance, Energy Blade, and Heavy Bow Rifle.

Offensive Defense: For Brave Players with Shield

Offensive Defense gives you a boost to your attack power after blocking an attack.

• To activate the skill, the shield must be raised just before the incoming attack. If you wait several seconds for the attack with the shield raised, Offensive Defense will not be activated.
• The amount of the attack boost depends on the level of Offensive Defense: at level 1 it is 5 percent, at level 2 already 10 percent and at level 3 a whole 15 percent.
• As an example: If you wear an energy blade and have an attack value of 1,000, this is activated Offensive Defense (level 3) at a whole 1,150 - this increase is enormous.
• Offensive Defense remains active only for a few seconds. This is to encourage players to fight offensively after a block and not hide behind their shield for long.

You can get the skill from both decorations and armor pieces. Offensive defense requires a 2 slot per level; therefore, it is all the more practical that the skill also exists in the 4 decorations in combination with attack and co.
