These are the most important rules for drone users
Even though there is no drone law in Germany, there are still some rules you need to follow when flying a drone. For example, you are allowed to fly at a maximum altitude of 100 meters and must always have your drone in sight.- In addition, you need either a liability insurance that covers the use of drones or a special drone insurance.
- While registration is not required, there is a marking requirement with a fireproof sticker that includes your name and full address.
- Depending on how heavy your drone is, you may fly it from 2 kilograms takeoff weight only with a license or from 5 kilograms only with an exemption permit.
- In addition, flying at night and flying over private property and nature reserves are prohibited. If there is an airport nearby, flying a drone within 1.5 kilometers is prohibited.
