Drones have been an increasingly frequent topic in the media lately and are enjoying great popularity among young and old alike. But what exactly are drones? What different types of drones there are and what they are used for, we show you here.

All information about drones and how they are used

Drones are unmanned flying objects that either fly autonomously or are controlled by humans via remote control. Drones are used both privately for hobby purposes and commercially. The commercial use of drones can be divided into two areas, depending on whether they are used in the civilian or military sector.

1. Private users of drones use the flying object mostly for the fun of flying or to make aerial photos of the landscape.
2. In the professional use in the civilian sector, drones are used, however, for surveying work, for the control of technical equipment or for research. Police and firefighters also use drones for reconnaissance purposes.
3. Military drones, on the other hand, are used for reconnaissance or espionage and can also be used in combat.

These rules apply when flying drones

Even if you only use a drone privately, there are certain rules you must follow when flying a drone. For example, the Drone Regulations of 2017 state that a drone must not fly higher than 100 meters and must be kept at least 100 meters away from sensitive locations such as airports. In addition, all drones are required to be marked by badge, and a certificate of proficiency must be obtained for drones weighing more than 2 kilograms.
